FAQs
How are wefts Installed?
Wefts are installed by either using micro beads or braids in a thin section of the clients own hair from ear to ear then the wefts are sewn onto the beads or braids using a needle and thread. The hair is then blended and styled.
Once applied, you will need your weft extensions to be taken out and re fitted approximately every 4-6 weeks as your hair grows. This depends on how fast your hair grows, so it can vary. Fine hair needs re fitting more often than thicker hair.
What alternatives are there to wefts?
If you have thinner or shorter hair and want to add extra volume or length to your look, individual tip extensions are a great solution. At Dianne Marshall, we offer I-tips, nano tips and flat tips in a variety of lengths and colours to suit all looks. Each type of tip is installed to a small section of the hair no more than 1 cm wide scattered across the head, rather than in a row along the scalp, and designed to create a more natural appearance and allowing your fingers to run freely across the scalp.
Alternatively, if you have shorter hair or just wish to have the flattest application do to your hair being fine then tape hair extensions are perfect for you. Falling flat on the scalp, as opposed to being sewn in or beaded , tapes are the perfect way to provide a natural, longer-looking appearance to your hair. We have a range of tapes in various lengths, colours and weights to suit all looks.
How long do wefts last?
Our luxury wefts last approximately 8 months, offering a medium-long term solution. Some customers can get over 12 months out of their wefts if they are looked after well. This all depends on how often the hair is washed, what products are used and how much heat and chemicals are used on the hair.
We recommend a non sulphate and non protein shampoo and hydrating masque, as well as a heat protecter. We also recommend keeping the hair away from chemicals such as chlorine, sea salt, tanning products and suncreams/sprays and perfume. Wefts are also available in European hair and Russian hair which last longer. Speak to one of our stylists for advice with looking after your new wefts by calling us on 0151 902 0002.
How long before weft extensions need to be re-fitted?
Remy weft hair extensions can last for as long as a year depending on how well you look after You will need to take them out and re fit them every 4-6 weeks as your natural hair grows. Your hair extension stylist will advise the correct amount of weeks that is suitable for your hair. Fine hair tends to need re fitting sooner than thicker hair.
Are wefts suitable for thin hair?
Remy Wefts can suit any type of hair, and that’s why they’re our most popular hair extensions. They are ideally suited to fine hair as fitted correctly they are very safe for your hair and will blend in with your own natural hair for a completely undetectable look.
