Installation
Without any need for heat or glue, wefts are sewn into your natural hair by attaching the wefts to braids or microbeads with a needle, and threading or locking them into position with microbeads.
Longevity
If taken care of, our luxury remy wefts last on average 8 months but looked after correctly our customers can get 12 months plus. Ask our stylists for help on maintaining your new wefts.
Aftercare
To get the most out of your hair extensions, treat it as kindly as you would your natural hair. With the correct aftercare and professional maintenance, the average life span of Dianne Marshall Hair Extensions is from 8 to 12 months. Remember, the more heat applied, the shorter the life span of your hair extensions.
Washing
We recommend washing your hair no more than twice a week. Overwashing can cause the hair to dry out and damage the extensions. Before washing your hair, you must make sure the hair is brushed through, starting from the bottom upwards using a soft bristle brush. Always shampoo your hair extensions twice, once to remove any product buildup or dirt and then to cleanse and hydrate. Wash the hair in a gentle motion and do not rub the hair together. After shampooing we recommend using a moisturising, hydrating mask applied to the middle and ends of the extensions. Avoid putting the product near the root. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse in cooler water. When washing is complete, gently towel dry the hair by making sure all excess water is out. We recommend using sulphate and protein-free shampoo and a hydrating, moisturising masque. You can find our recommendations on our Haircare page.
Protecting Your Hair
Do not leave your hair extensions to dry naturally. Instead, follow our professional guide to blow drying Dianne Marshall hair extensions: Always apply heat protection to your hair before blow drying, to increase the life span of them and protect your new hair. When blow drying the hair, your time can be eased by blast drying the hair – we do not recommend tipping your head upside down, as it will cause friction with the hair.
Styling
You can use heat on our extensions, including wands, curling tongs, straighteners and hairdryers. However, please always take into consideration that the more heat applied, the shorter the life span of the hair. Always make sure heat protection is applied before using heat. Please keep away any heat from adhesive or bonds, this will cause them to melt or become loose.
General Aftercare Advice
When sleeping with extensions, avoid going to sleep with wet hair, ensuring extensions are completely dry to avoid any problems. We recommend sleeping with your hair in a loose ponytail or plait with a silk bobble to prevent any tangling or matting to the hair extensions. When swimming, make sure your hair extensions are tied up and don’t come into contact with chlorine or sea salt water. Saltwater and sand can also rub together, which will cause matting and tangling. If the hair does come in contact with these, we advise to rinse and shampoo immediately. It is important to make sure you follow the advice given by a professional hair extension specialist to ensure you get the longevity of your hair extensions.
Colouring Extensions
Our hair extensions have gone through a huge chemical process, colouring them after purchase is at your own risk and may cause damage or even dry the hair out. We do not recommend our hair extensions be coloured or toned. If you do this, it will be at your own risk and Dianne Marshall Hair Extensions will not be held responsible for this. Please be aware that purple shampooing your hair extensions is also at your own risk. We would always recommend colouring your natural hair first and then purchasing the extensions to make sure you get the perfect match. You can book a consultation if you need to speak to one of our professionals.
At Dianne Marshall Hair Extensions we try to ensure our colour range is consistent. However, sometimes slight variations can happen which is beyond our control. We ask that you are happy with the colour of the extensions before you have them fitted as exchanges and refunds will only be accepted if the hair is returned to us in its original packaging, not unpicked nor tampered with in any way.
Discolouration and Fading
Hair extensions may change colour due to environmental factors. Hair discolouration caused by a chemical is not a manufacturing fault and can be anything from the following: sun protection creams, perfume, tanning products, incorrect product use, sun exposure, chlorine, sea salt water and hard water containing minerals such as limescale and copper.
Hair extensions can discolour over time or when exposed to the above information. Contact from any of these can cause the hair to change colour to a pink or copper tone, triggering a chemical process that alters the pigmentation. Some sun creams have ingredients in them that can turn hair extensions pink or copper. Please be aware of a chemical called Avobenzone, as this is often found in aerosol sunscreens. It is also important to ensure your hair is fully covered during warmer times of the year, or on holiday. UV rays can cause the hair extensions to dry, fade or discolour.
